About me
An experienced senior commercial designer and retail creative director. I have held a variety of key creative leadership positions in Visual Merchandising & store design; trend forecasting, product design & development, as well as creative marketing and studio management. My main expertise is in fashion and sports retail product design, VM and all creative elements. Across small, medium and large format stores as well as department stores. My key value proposition to companies and brands is not only the fact that I have a deep knowledge and understanding of retail, but it’s that I am a multi-disciplinary designer and creative. I do 360 degree brand development: ideation, brand CI design (logo, labels, packaging), product design (CAD's / sketches), in-store rendering, visual merchandising & in-store signage and marketing materials. I have conceptualised and designed some of South Africas well loved own label brands from ideation to reality. These brands have become multi million rand businesses. My core experience is largely within South Africa’s top tier retail groups: Mr Price, Mr Price Sport, Edgars and Jet. In addition I spent many years in the UAE working for Alyasra Groups' Basicxx chain. |

Fashion & Sportswear Design:
My process always begins with creating a mood board / visual direction. My inspiration is gathered from my Flipboard, Pinterest boards, Instagram, WGSN, people watching at my favourite coffee shops, and of course global travel trips to some of my favourite destinations: New York, L.A, Dubai, London, Berlin… the list goes on! After creating the visual point of view, I delve into the collection design which I then iterate several times along with the buyer. As a head of design, the value I add is that I’m not only a people manager, but I also have the skills myself. This is really valuable when guiding and coaching my design team, as I can give both hands on and theoretical guidance.
